The “Preserving Memory” project involves conducting life story interviews with Jews from Bukovina and their descendants. The project was funded by the Haus des deutschen Ostens (HdO) in Munich. Those interviewed recount not only their own experiences of anti-Semitism, flight and expulsion, but also the living environment and everyday life of their ancestors in Bukovina. This allows us to piece together a complex picture of the living conditions and memories of the German-speaking and Jewish populations in Bukovina.
