Many people who wish to research their family’s Bukovinian roots turn to the Bukowina-Institut in Augsburg. Whilst our archive and library collections certainly contain some information, for certain enquiries (such as documents) you may need to contact other institutions. For these reasons, we have produced a guide (For the time being, only in German) to family history research to make the process easier for both you and our small institute. Please read these guidelines carefully before visiting us at the Bukovina Institute.

We are happy to provide you with information about our collections at the Bukovina Institute and to advise you on where to turn for further information. As we are a small institute, we ask that you carry out specific research independently (following an introduction) at the Bukovina Institute. We will be happy to provide you with the archival materials and finding aids you need for your research!
