Fedkovych Monument

The monument to the Ukrainian writer Yuri Fedkovych (1834-1888) was created in the workshop of the Chernivtsi sculptor Volodymyr Hamal (*1948). It was officially inaugurated in October 1995 and is located in a small green area between wul. L. Ukraïnky and wul. Universytetsʾka, next to several university buildings. It is located close to the main building of the Yuri Fedkovich National University. Due to its unusual design and austere forms, the monument was nicknamed "Transformer" (Japanese toy action figures) by the local population. Text: Kateryna Stetsevych
