The Museum of Hutsul Arts and Crafts in Vyzhnytsia was opened in 1905. Attached to the museum is a school of arts and crafts, which includes seven disciplines, including embroidery, blacksmithing, woodwork, design and pedagogy. Work at the school continued during the Soviet era. Many of the graduates' final works are on display in the museum itself, and some are for sale. These include woodwork such as the traditional Easter eggs or artistically decorated boxes, plates and candlesticks, dolls, embroidered cushions, forged knives, jewellery such as necklaces or traditional Hutsul costumes. Traditional art and contemporary themes come together in the tapestries shown in the photos. They are made according to the Hutsul tradition and include Hutsul patterns depicting current political issues such as the Maidan.
